Good-bye Summer

Hey guys! These are my last few days in California before I move to Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, VA. Summer hasn't turned out exactly how I imagined but here are some of my adventures..

1. Phantom of the Opera!
This summer marked my first time seeing Phantom of the Opera in live performance. Out of all the things I had imagined something happened that I never would have imagined, I cried. I sat there and as the Overture began to play and the chandelier began to rise above the audience, I sobbed. As the Phantom led Christine into his labyrinth and sang "Music of the Night", tears ran down my face. After the Phantom set Christine free and his heart was broken once again, and the second act came to a close, I cried all over again. Not a melancholy cry but a fulfilling purge, you can say. I guess seeing and experiencing Phantom of the Opera live had been a dream of mine for such a length of time that when it was actually happening, I couldn't entirely believe it.

That is also when I found out the power of waterproof eyeliner and make-up setting spray! While in the midst of crying, I had actually pondered on whether my make-up was smeared and if I would be spending my intermission, re-applying. To my luck, it stayed right where it was and as if I hadn't shed a tear at all.

2. Second Happiest Place On Earth Day Care
For several months now I have held a substitute position at The Second Happiest Place on Earth Day and Child Care. However, I didn't spend most of time there until Summer started. From just a couple of hours after school to full 10 hour work days.
Sometimes it was crazy, but most of the time it was fun and fulfilling. My co-workers were the best I had ever dealt with in my life, my boss' were wonderful, one loved musicals and Broadway so it was always the highlight of my morning to dance and sing to music as we served breakfast. Most of all the children, regardless of when they drove you crazy, were the fruits of my labor.

This was a little farewell card that my co-works and boss' made for me :)

3. A day at the beach and The Cabrillo Marine Aquarium
On the Thursday before I left, I went to the beach with Jo and her family. It was awesome to have a casual, lazy day out in the sun.

The day after the beach, I went to the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium with my Dad for our last outing. If you are ever looking for a fun little get-away, stop by the Cabrillo Aquarium. Free and the best aquarium in the world (literally, there was a plaque to commemorate it).

4. SPLASH!
About two weeks ago, I tagged along with Girl Scout Troop 453 and Jo to the SPLASH pad park! The water slides were exciting and fun and it was a fun activity for a summer day.

5. A Blast from the Past with Mrs. Lander
A couple of days this summer I helped my eighth grade US history teacher, Mrs. Lander organize her room. It being American History and all, I couldn't help but take a picture like this:

We also went out to lunch:

6. California ID
This year marked a new milestone. Not only obtaining documents, such as my birth certificate or social security card but my California ID!

7. Saying Good-bye
On Wednesday, I left for college. Said good-bye to individuals who mean the world to me and who have given the world to me. I love them with all my heart and I am thankful that I have had the opportunity to have them in my life and I am proud to call them my family.

8. Beginning of College
So today is the day that I arrived at Mary Baldwin. Sarah drove me down after a few days of hanging out at her new house! Sarah and I attended a Washington National's game, worked on a project, went shopping and I also took a little trip in DC. Last time I visited DC, I saw many of the monuments and attempted alot, so this time around I decided to take it slow. I visited the mummies and dinosaurs in the Natural History Museum and I went to Cosi, my favorite spot in DC!

Tonight, I attended a bonfire with my roommate and we had dinner in the Hall. We also watched a movie, went to Walmart and had a few campus, after dark shenanigans!

Thank you!
